In an efforts to resolves and minimize technical challenges and several complaints emanating from TCN-Distribution Companies (DisCos) interface such as under-utilized load etc, the Management of Transmission Company of Nigeria (TCN), has appointed Regional Coordinators to interface with DISCOS in order to ensure that the DisCos take more power to the consumers.
Those appointed include; Engr. L. C. Okalla, AGM (T), Abuja Sub Region for Abuja Electricity Distribution Company (AEDC), Engr. Jude Agupusi, AGM (SO), Port Harcourt Regional Control Centre (RCC) for Port Harcourt Electricity Distribution Company (PHDC), Engr. A. O. Balogun AGM (T) Aiyede, Osogbo Region for Ibadan Electricity Distribution Company (IBDC) and Engr. C. Iwuamadi, AGM (TS) Lagos Region and Engr. S. O. Omoragbon, AGM (SO) I/WRCC for Eko and Ikeja Distribution companies.
Other are, Engr. Balarabe Abdullahi, AGM (SO), Kano Regional Control Centre (RCC) for Kano Electricity Distribution Company (KEDC), Engr. M. S. Nuhu PM (T), Kaduna Sub Region for Kaduna Electricity Distribution Company (KEDC), Engr. A. O. Labaran AGM (SO), Enugu Regional Control Centre (RCC) for Enugu Electricity Distribution Company (EEDC) and Engr. M. I. Tijani AGM (SO) Benin Regional Control Centre (RCC) for Benin Electricity Distribution Company (BEDC), while Engr. M. D. Ahmed, PM (T) Jos Sub Region and Engr. Tijani Ahmadu PM (T) Yola Works Centre are for Jos and Yola Electricity Distribution companies respectively.
Inaugurating the regional coordinators at a meeting on Wednesday, August 6, 2017, in Abuja, the General Manager (Maintenance and Field Services), Engr. Victor Adewumi, stated that management decided to appoint regional coordinators to interface with Discos in order to upscale the power delivery.
He stated that those appointed were expected to work with the eleven DisCos on daily basis, enjoining them to take their responsibilities seriously.
According to the Terms of Reference, the regional coordinators are to liaise with DisCos daily as representative of TCN on all DisCos/TCN interface issues, to resolve them as soon as they occur and work out modalities for proper and continual engagement with Discos in order to develop shared understanding on issues of mutual interest so that there will be a very cordial relationship between the Discos and TCN that should make DisCos pick maximum available load from the national grid.
Others are, periodic assessment of daily dispatch nominations vis-à-vis the MYTO2 National Grid load allocation template so that potential areas of conflict are identified and resolved, to manage the grid equipment outages and issues relating to maintenance activities, that affect demand side, more efficiently in a way that outage times on both sides are reduced to the barest minimum and finally, to escalate unresolved issues or those outside their limit to the Regional Managers and or Corporate Headquarters.
The meeting was attended by all General Managers (Transmission), Assistant General Managers (Operations) and other top management staff of TCN.
